Latest News

21st May 2013 - Record Park Run Turnout
There was a record turnout of 22 Prestwich AC runners at Heaton parkrun on Saturday 18th May for the latest Championship race. The contest between the male Prestwich runners was pretty close as you can see from the results. In fact, there were only 19 places between 7 of our runners. Viv (2nd lady overall with a time of 19:49) and Dan Cottle (first for the Prestwich AC men with a time of 19:58) finished pretty close to each other too. Jen Helm had a great run on her birthday taking 50 seconds from her PB to finish in 23:48 and Clair Martin beat her PB by 69 seconds to bring home the 20 points for the ladies. Clair has run Heaton parkrun 5 times and scored a PB every time! Prize for best PB however goes to Mandy Coleman, who improved her time by 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Well done everyone!

Special mentions to our team mascot Noah, who Glenn effortlessly pushed round in his buggy; to Harry Coleman, Mandy's son who finished in 23:56; to Stefan Kalambouka, Afroditi's son who finished in 25:06; and to Oli Simmons, Dave's son, who finished in 25:38.

Next up in the Championship it's the Amberswood Trail Race on 2nd June.

14th April 2013 - Championship Update: Radcliffe 10k

6 runners from Prestwich took on the Radcliffe multi terrain 10K, the 4th race of this year's Prestwich AC Championship. It was quite windy on the course, which sometimes seemed to help the runners along, but was a bit more of a battle in the more exposed areas. The route took in the canal towpaths, went through woods and followed trail paths. It was a good mixture of surfaces, none of them too muddy!! Despite being windy, it felt very warm, which was unusual for the recent weather we've been experiencing!

Despite the off road nature of the course, there were some good times from the Prestwich runners. First home was Dan Cottle in his first Championship race of this year. He finished in a very impressive time of 42.57. Next to finish was Richard Collins, in his 2nd appearance in the Championship. His time was 45.13. Andy Mudd followed with 46.47, then 1st lady home was Alison Allerton in 48.55. Claire Elam was next in 55.32 and Steve Myers shrugged off his recent injury to finish in 57.33.

Well done to all runners today. Check the updated Championship table for latest positions.

Next Championship race is a parkrun which will be mid-May; exact date to be confirmed.

9th March - Club Championship 2013 Race List Announced

The early leaders in the men's and women's tables, Phil Taylor and Alison Allerton, will next have their leads challenged at the Salford 10k.
