About Prestwich Athletic Club
Prestwich Athletic Club is a small running club established in 1988. Based at Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club we are a friendly relaxed bunch who usually run between 4-8 miles around the local area.
Our Monday night runs leave at 7.00 pm from Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club. We run a range of routes around the Prestwich area, and now have a dedicated off-road club for the more adventurous types - available all-year round! However fit or fast you are, everyone is welcome to join us - we make sure that you are never running on your own! The club also has changing and showering facilities. Monday runs are generally informal, and usually involve a drink in the club afterwards!
On Thursday nights, we meet at the Car Park of Prestwich Metrolink at 6.30 pm. Thursday runs offer alternative routes for runners of different abilities, including absolute beginners or women-only groups if preferred. They offer a friendly and safe environment for anyone who would like to try running with a group.
Our Junior Section meets on a Friday night.
There is a social side to the club as well, so you can stay on for a drink after the Monday Night Run if you want (it’s thirsty work) and help organise the Prestwich Challenge, and lots of social events too.
Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling club is situated behind Heys Road. Access to the club house is via a lane next to Prestwich Metrolink station.
Background
Prestwich AC was founded by Rodger & Pamela Davies in 1988, together with friends, family and local volunteers. We have had many members over the years, but Rodger is still an active member and the leading light of the club.
The club has organised many races including the Prestwich 10k and Fun Runs and most famously the infamous Prestwich Challenge.
Our races have raised thousand of pounds over the years for local charities and good causes.
We would sincerely like to thank everyone involved with the club, past and present for their hardwork, dedication and loyal support.
